Values-Driven Leadership

Leaders influence the actions of others powerfully.  However, leadership is not all about power and influence.

Leaders establish and maintain the standards and culture of an organization.  Leadership should emanate from who YOU are.

When you know yourself and your principles, it is easy to know what to do in any situation.  Doing the right thing and doing the best you can are what leadership is all about.  Strive for greater self-awareness.  You cannot lead others if you do not know yourself.

Being able to see situations from multiple viewpoints will lead to a fuller understanding.  A leader considers all opinions with an open mind.

Recognize your strengths and weaknesses.  Strive for improvement.  Be self-confident with the fact that there will always be somebody who is better than you, but you are alright with that.

Values should be lived every single day.  If values are visible, trust is created.  The way employees think about each other and their clients, the way they behave, and their impressions of right and wrong are all influenced by their leaders, and how they live out the organization’s values.

Values should be seen on how you lead others, when you make policies and the way you manage.

With values, leadership can be exercised by anyone, no matter how modest or elevated their stature in life.
